Our History

Gene and Rosalyn Stuckey loved fresh-picked apples and fresh-pressed cider, but orchards were few and far between near Indianapolis. They thought they’d remedy that by planting a few trees in 1969. In fact, they eventually planted about 4,000 of them – and when they were done, they planted two acres of strawberries and turned an ancient barn into a farm market.

God blessed their labors with abundance, and by 1972, they had established a roadside market on Range Line Road to sell their produce and let people know there was an orchard nearby. Word spread, and people came to pick their own strawberries and buy fresh apples and vegetables.

As homes began to cover Carmel, Westfield, and Zionsville, folks drove out to the farm for more than just delicious produce. They enjoyed the fresh air and quiet atmosphere. It wasn’t long before school groups, daycares, and retirement homes made special trips to the orchard and market for a taste of farm life, freshly pressed cider, and a wagon ride to the pumpkin patch.

When it came time for Gene and Rosalyn to retire, they found kindred souls in Jeff and Shannon Pierce, who bought the business in 2005. Together, they’re continuing the legacy of quality, friendliness, and love for the land that make Stuckey Farm such a wonderful place.
